I am currently rereading BSC and I have thoughts (all of which are not going to be positive). Like Dawn Schafer is actually an awful character (I am consistently annoyed with characters that do not act as they are described, like how she is described as an 'individual' that 'quietly does her own thing' Like, WHERE?! WHERE IS SHE AN INDIVIDUAL THAT QUIETLY DOES HER OWN THING. All I have seen is her being judgemental and snotty towards other characters, like her referring to hot dogs as 'stuffed animal entrails'. Plus even her being a vegetarian is not consistent throughout the books.)
Also I am frustrated by the book 'Mallory Pike, #1 Fan' because I feel it is character assassination to the highest degree. I mean stalking a woman and grilling her about her dead daughter? She feels like ye average fanti that demands people write about only things they experienced and nowt else. ALSO SHE IS REWARDED AT THE END?! なに?!
Also 'Stacey's Lie'. Like, I cannot with people that hang out with you when they really want to hang out with that special person and it is obvious because they look at their watch surreptitiously. Claudia should not have felt like she had to apologise. She had done nothing wrong. It was Stacey's disloyalty. (Also I lowkey wanted Ed and Mr. Majors to be a thing).
I am not even going to get into the book about autism. Like how do you cram every stereotype into one character?
The next thing I want to get into here is the treatment of Jenny Prezzioso. Like why are the Pikes excused for acting out but Jenny Prezzioso is considered a brat? SHE IS FOUR YEARS OLD HOW DO YOU BLOODY EXPECT A FOUR YEAR OLD TO ACT? I do not understand why the BSCult hates Jenny but loves Karen and the Pikes.
And I think the Pike parents are not good parents. Like parent your damn children (like have some rules). They are not going to learn if you just allow them to run amok and leave the parenting to your oldest child.
